UFC Live 4 Targeted for June 26; Venue Not Yet Determined

With the MMA community still reeling from the bloody and brutal UFC Live 3 main event between Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann, the Ultimate Fighting Championship already has plans for the next iteration of the Versus-televised series.

UFC and Versus officials announced Thursday night that the organizations would again come together on June 26 to promote UFC Live 4. A venue for the event has yet to be confirmed.

UFC Live 3 was highlighted by Sanchez’s controversial unanimous decision victory over Kampmann in the evening’s headlining attraction. After a first round that saw the Dane take control and knock Sanchez down, the Greg Jackson product stormed back in the second and third frames to make the fight much more competitive. At the end of the bout, Sanchez looked hardly recognizable, while Kampmann had suffered injuries to his right eye and hand.

The UFC Live series, also known as “UFC on Versus,” began nearly one year ago. On March 21, 2010, current No. 1 light heavyweight contender Jon Jones smashed Brandon Vera in the inaugural event’s headliner at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. UFC Live 2 was held on Aug. 1 and was once again topped by a dominant victory from Jones in the main event, this time against former International Fight League champion Vladimir Matyushenko.
