“I’ve signed a three-fight deal with KSW and I’m hoping that it will be extended after they see what I can bring to the table,” Askham told MMAFighting. “The title is what I’m after, and I want to get straight in the mix to get a shot at it as soon as possible.”
The 29-year-old Askham posted a 2-4 record under UFC employ from October 2014 to March 2017. After back-to-back decision losses to Jack Hermansson and Bradley Scott, Askham signed on with Absolute Championship Berkut and took a split decision win over fellow British UFC vet Luke Barnett on Sept. 23.
The non-exclusive deal will allow Askham to fight outside of KSW throughout its duration. He is expected to make his promotional debut next March.
“I’ll be honest, the decision was based on money,” Askham added. KSW are filling stadiums and doing shows all over Europe, and they put the best deal on the table for me. It was the best move for me.”
