UFC Nixes Plans for Scheduled March 3 Fight Night Card in Las Vegas
We will have to wait a little longer than expected for the first
Ultimate Fighting Championship doubleheader weekend in 2017.
This past November, preliminary scheduling for the UFC had the promotion slated to run back-to-back cards on March 3 and 4, with UFC Fight Night 106 set for the Friday night, leading into the Saturday night's UFC 209 card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Now, that tentative March 3 card has been removed from the calendar.
MMAJunkie.com was first to report the scheduling change on Monday.
This is the second notable change to the UFC's first-quarter plans. UFC 208 was originally set for Jan. 21 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., but due to a lack of credible headliners for the card, the company's Anaheim return was postponed until the summer, on Aug. 5. The UFC card set for Feb. 11 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn was then re-named UFC 208.
The UFC makes its 2017 debut on Jan. 15 from Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix for UFC Fight Night 103, where B.J. Penn headlines against rising featherweight prospect Yair Rodriguez.
