The Ultimate Fighting Championship will head to Manila for a second time on Oct. 15, the Las Vegas-based promotion announced on Wednesday.
“We are very excited to be back in the Philippines,” Executive Vice President & General Manager of UFC Asia Kenneth Berger said in a release. “The consistently warm reception we receive from Filipino fans and last year’s sold out event shows us that UFC has an incredibly strong following in the country. Manila is a fighting city and we hope to put on another unforgettable show that will capture the hearts of Filipino sports fans throughout the country.”
The organization initially traveled to Manila on May 16, 2015 for a Fight Night card. In the evening’s main event, Frankie Edgar captured a unanimous decision triumph over Urijah Faber, while Filipino-American star Mark Munoz outpointed Luke Barnatt in his final professional bout.
UFC bantamweight star John Dodson was in Manila to help promote the upcoming event. It’s unclear if the Jackson-Wink MMA representative, who is part Filipino, will be on card.
