“Fetch’s sizeable subscriber base, along with its comprehensive network of ISP and retail partners offers UFC a unique opportunity to extend our distribution footprint to reach new fans and continue the dramatic growth of UFC’s brand and the sport of MMA in Australia,” said Joe Carr, the UFC’s senior vice president for international and content in a press release.
The deal will offer Fetch subscribers the opportunity to buy individual events for $49.99 AUD, or to watch content on Fetch channel EdgeSport, available in a Fetch's “Vibe Pack” bundle for $6.
In March of this year, Fetch dropped “TV” from its official branding and welcomed an infusion of $10 million in capital which the company hopes to double in short order. Fetch currently has 500,000 subscribers.
In the interim, the UFC is continuing its deal with broadcast partner Foxtel. The two companies signed a deal in August 2012. Last Saturday night's UFC on Fox 25 card aired on Fox Sports in Australia, while Foxtel is still offering the UFC 214 main card broadcast via its PPV service Main Event for $49.95.
