UFC Targeting Donald Cerrone vs. Leon Edwards to Headline Fight Night Card in Singapore

A welterweight showdown pitting Donald Cerrone against Leon Edwards will likely headline the UFC’s upcoming Fight Night event in Singapore.

ESPN.com and MMAFighting.com both reported the booking on Tuesday. The bout is close to being finalized but has not yet been made official by the Las Vegas-based promotion.

The event, which will likely be UFC Fight Night 132, will take place on June 23 at a venue to be determined.

Cerrone halted a three-bout skid with a first-round stoppage of Yancy Medeiros in the UFC Fight Night 126 headliner on Feb. 18. “Cowboy” had recently discussed a return to 155 pounds following the skid, but it appears he will remain at welterweight for now.

Edwards, meanwhile, has been victorious in seven of his last eight Octagon appearances and was vocal about wanting a higher-profile opponent following a third-round stoppage of Peter Sobotta at UFC Fight Night 127. The 26-year-old Englishman has also bested the likes of Bryan Barberena, Vicente Luque, Albert Tumenov and Dominic Waters during a current five-bout winning streak.
