‘UFC Undisputed 3’ Slated for January Release

The third installment of the UFC’s “Undisputed” video game series
will likely be released in January, the promotion announced
Thursday.
As in past iterations, players will take control of a bevy of UFC fighters in order to do combat in a virtual Octagon. However, “Undisputed 3” also brings several new features to the table.
For the first time in the series, players will be able to control
both bantamweight and featherweight competitors under the UFC
banner, making more than 150 fighters -- like bantamweight champion

The game will also feature a “Pride mode,” wherein players may adopt the rule set of defunct Japanese promotion Pride Fighting Championships. This means players may execute knees, soccer kicks and stomps to the head of a downed opponent if they so choose. Additionally, calling the action in “Pride mode” will be the seminal Pride commentary team of “The Fight Professor” Stephen Quadros and former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten.
“We are excited to launch ‘UFC Undisputed 3’ in January 2012 and expect it to be the best version yet,” UFC President Dana White said in a release. “We’ve added two new weight classes and several new features to the game that will bring UFC fans closer to the Octagon than ever before.”
The game, which will be developed by Yuke’s and distributed by THQ, is also expected to feature enhanced animations, fighter walk-outs and new camera angles.
