After being released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship in March, Erick Silva has found a new professional home in Legacy Fighting Alliance. Fifteen-time UFC competitor Silva has been announced as one-half of the main event at LFA 45, scheduled for July 20 in Los Angeles, which will feature a welterweight showdown between Silva and LFA veteran Nick Barnes.

Yesterday, LFA CEO Ed Soares announced that the promotion was returning to Los Angeles and took the opportunity to announce his newest headliner.

“I am excited to bring LFA back to Coachella Valley at LFA 45,” stated Soares. “This will be our fourth show in my home state of California. Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa is a world-class 4-diamond establishment and we look forward to returning in July with an explosive main event between Erick Silva and Nick Barnes.”

Silva (19-9) is one of the most recognizable names among those released by the UFC this year. The 33-year-old Brazilian fought for the world’s premier MMA promotion for seven years, earning victories over such notable fighters as Josh Koscheck, Luan Chagas and Jason High. “The Tiger” became popular thanks to the dynamic fighting style that earned him performance bonuses in nearly half of his UFC bouts. Silva was released from his contract in March after going 1-4 in his last five fights.

LFA 45 will also feature a middleweight bout between Moses Murrieta and Casey Ryan, a light-heavyweight bout between Blake Troop and James Cannon and Luc Bondole will face undefeated prospect Taylor Johnson.

“LFA 45: Silva vs. Barnes” will air live nationwide on AXS TV at 10p.m. ET / 7p.m. PT.
