Another Ultimate Fighting Championship alumnus has joined BattleGrounds MMA’s single-night, eight-man tournament.

Promotion officials announced Wednesday that Roan Carneiro has thrown his hat into the ring and will compete alongside Dennis Hallman, Cody McKenzie and others for a shot at $50,000. Battlegrounds MMA "O.N.E." takes place June 27 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., and will also see the likes of Luigi Fioravanti and David Mitchell vie for the tournament crown.

“We are excited to welcome Roan Carneiro to our roster of highly-accomplished and well-versed mixed martial artists,” said BattleGrounds MMA President and Olympic wrestling gold medalist Kenny Monday. “Roan has been fighting all over the world, at the highest level of the sport, so we felt he was a perfect fit for BattleGrounds MMA’s high-stakes tournament.”

A 27-fight pro, Carneiro has won four of his last five, most recently submitting Sean Huffman last October under the Wild Bill’s Fight Night banner. “Jucao” competed five times for the UFC from 2007 to 2008, racking up a record of 2-2 before exiting the organization on the heels of a split decision defeat to Ryo Chonan in his final promotional appearance.
