Six fighters have signed on to compete in BattleGrounds MMA’s one-night, eight-man tournament, including UFC veterans Dennis Hallman, Cody McKenzie and Luigi Fioravanti.
Dubbed ”O.N.E.” by promoter and 1988 Olympic wrestling gold medalist Kenny Monday, the tournament will feature eight welterweights competing in a single bracket for a grand prize of $50,000. The event takes place June 27 at BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., and will also see David Mitchell, Josh Bryant and Chris Honeycutt participate in the competition.
The final two tournament participants are expected to be announced shortly, and a lottery draw held after the June 26 weigh-ins will determine the opening round matchups. In addition to the welterweight bracket, eight more fights will also be contested at the show.
“We are excited to have assembled a group of incredibly talented and accomplished athletes for this landmark tournament,” said Monday. “The one-night tournament is truly the toughest test, physically and mentally, in all of combative sports, and BattleGrounds MMA is proud to bring this format back to life and usher in a new era of elite competition in the world’s fastest growing sport.”
