UFC on FX 1 Headliner Set with Lightweights Miller, Guillard

The UFC’s debut on cable station FX will be headlined by a pivotal lightweight confrontation between Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard, promotion officials announced Thursday.

Official date and location information has yet to be released for UFC on FX 1, though the show is currently rumored to go down Jan. 20 in Nashville.

The event will also feature a welterweight showdown between veterans Josh Neer and Duane Ludwig, as well as a heavyweight clash pitting Pat Barry against Christian Morecraft.

Miller (Pictured, File Photo) recently had a seven-fight winning streak snapped by current No. 1 contender Ben Henderson on Aug. 14. Prior to his defeat at the hands of the former World Extreme Cagefighting champion, the AMA Fight Club standout had only been bested by two-time UFC title challenger Gray Maynard and reigning Octagon kingpin Frankie Edgar, racking up nine UFC victories in 11 tries.

Guillard also enters the cage following a setback, as “The Young Assassin” was upset by jiu-jitsu ace Joe Lauzon at UFC 136, reducing his five-fight winning streak to rubble. Before submitting to Lauzon on Oct. 8, the Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts representative topped notables such as Jeremy Stephens, Evan Dunham and Shane Roller during his five-fight surge. Known for his takedown defense and punching power, Guillard owns 19 of his 29 career wins by knockout.
