Jake Ellenberger garnered the biggest payday at UFC on FX 5, taking home $84,000 for his unanimous decision victory over Jay Hieron ($12,000) in their Oct. 5 welterweight bout.
Other top earners for the event, which took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, included Strikeforce veteran Antonio Silva ($70,000), Team Quest product Mike Pierce ($44,000) and former NCAA All-American wrestler Jacob Volkmann ($40,000). The Minnesota Office of Combative Sports released the figures to Sherdog.com on Monday.
Silva captured his first Octagon victory in the evening’s main event, stopping Jackson’s MMA representative Travis Browne ($20,000) with punches 3:27 into round one of their heavyweight tilt. Browne would later reveal that he tore his hamstring during the contest and will be sidelined two to four months.
Earlier on the main card, John Dodson ($30,000) became the No. 1 contender at flyweight with a second-round TKO of Jussier da Silva ($9,000), while Justin Edwards ($20,000) submitted Josh Neer ($16,000) with a guillotine choke 45 seconds into their 170-pound conflict.
