Four men were awarded post-fight bonuses on Saturday night at UFC on FX 7, as Vitor Belfort, Ildemar Alcantara, C.B. Dollaway and Daniel Sarafian each pocketed an extra $50,000.
Belfort (Pictured, file photo) earned “Knockout of the Night” honors for his second-round stoppage of Michael Bisping in the evening’s main event, and Alcantara took home “Submission of the Night” for his kneebar finish of Brazilian countryman Wagner Prado. Co-headliners Dollaway and Sarafian saw their three-round middleweight showdown dubbed “Fight of the Night” at Geraldo Jose de Almeida State Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Though he would finish his fight in emphatic fashion, Belfort appeared tentative in the opening minutes of his middleweight main event before catching “The Count” with a hard head kick to end round one. The sequence would repeat itself not long after in round two, though this time Bisping would not recover. “The Phenom” pounced on his fallen foe, raining down hammer-fists and forcing referee Dan Miragliotta to stop the contest 2:37 into the second frame.
Alcantara found himself on the receiving end of several hard Prado hooks in round one but managed to close the distance in the second stanza and take the fight to the floor. Though Prado would reverse the position, “Marajo” managed to trap one of his legs from the bottom, methodically locking up a kneebar to force the tap midway through the round.
Dollaway and Sarafian battled back and forth for 15 minutes, with the Brazilian landing looping shots in round one only to see Dollaway answer back with a violent flurry of his own to close out the middle period. All tied up heading into round three, both men had their moments in the final frame. In the end, it was Dollaway who saw his hand raised, much to the dismay of the partisan crowd.
