Ultimate Fighting Championship officials on Friday announced that a rematch between Floridian rivals Hayder Hassan and Vicente Luque will go down at UFC on Fox 17.
The event, which is headlined by a UFC lightweight championship bout between titlist Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone, will take place Dec. 19 at Amway Center in Orlando.
Hassan topped Luque via split decision in the final episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 21,” granting Hassan access to fight on the show’s finale. The win was a crucial one, as it allowed American Top Team to complete its come-from-behind triumph over the rival Blackzilians squad.
Hassan lost to Kamaru Usman via second-round arm-triangle choke at the “TUF 21” finale. Luque also fought on the card in Las Vegas and dropped a unanimous decision to Michael Graves.
Prior to being cast on the reality show, Hassan had won four consecutive battles, three by knockout. Luque was similarly hot, winning five of seven overall with four of those victories coming by way of either submission or knockout.
