Lightweight contender Michael Chiesa looked superb against Beneil Dariush in the featured preliminary bout as he scored a second-round submission.
Chiesa was rocked by the Iranian in the first, but he weathered the storm and regrouped. Early in the second, the Washington native landed a powerful takedown and quickly took Dariush’s back and from there, it was a matter of time before he sunk in the rear-naked choke, forcing the tap. The official time of the submission came at 1:20 of the frame, allowing “Maverick” to become the first man to submit Dariush in MMA.
