Three men took home post-fight bonuses from UFC on Fox 5 at KeyArena in Seattle on Saturday night. Scott Jorgensen (Pictured, file photo) was the biggest earner, garnering $130,000 and two awards, while John Albert and Yves Edwards pocketed $65,000 apiece for their efforts.
Jorgensen spent the majority of his showdown with Albert on the ground in a rollicking, back-and-forth battle for positioning. For a moment, it appeared that Jorgensen’s night would end courtesy of an Albert triangle choke, but the former WEC standout gradually freed himself from the predicament. Late in the frame, Jorgensen took his adversary’s back, flattened him out and elicited the tap with just one second remaining in the period.
In a bout that was originally scheduled to be contested at UFC on FX 5 in October, Edwards managed to stay out of harm’s way against the heavy-handed Stephens. After “Lil Heathen” misfired on a combination in the first round, Edwards countered with a perfectly placed right hook that sent his foe crashing to the canvas. The Houston, Texas, native pounced from there, attacking Stephens from side control and finishing the job with a vicious elbow on the ground at the 1:55 mark.
