UFC on Fox 9 Slated for Dec. 14 in Sacramento

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s next appearance on Fox’s flagship network is slated to take place Dec. 14 in Sacramento, Calif.

UFC officials announced the news Tuesday, revealing that Sleep Train Arena (formerly Arco Arena) will host UFC on Fox 9. Though no bouts have been announced for the card, the prelims are expected to air live on Fox Sports 1 before the main-card broadcast on Fox.

The UFC last visited Sacramento in July 2007 for UFC 73. That event was headlined by a middleweight title showdown between Anderson Silva and Nate Marquardt, with “The Spider” retaining his title in a first-round knockout.

Sacramento also played host to UFC 65 the year prior, which saw Georges St. Pierre win his first welterweight championship from Matt Hughes in the evening’s headlining rematch. Then-heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia also competed that night, retaining his belt in a five-round decision over Jeff Monson.
