Two more bouts have been added to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s sophomore event on Fox Sports 1, as UFC officials this week announced that featherweights Darren Elkins and Hatsu Hioki will collide at the Aug. 28 event, as will bantamweights Erik Perez and Takeya Mizugaki.
The show is headlined by a welterweight rematch pitting Carlos Condit against Martin Kampmann and takes place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. As its title suggests, the event airs live on Fox Sports 1 and will also feature a pivotal lightweight confrontation between Donald Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos.
Elkins, 29, saw a five-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing, suffering a 68-second knockout courtesy of Chad Mendes on April 20. Hioki, meanwhile, has lost back-to-back fights for the first time since 2007, as the former Sengoku champion was outpointed by Ricardo Lamas one year ago before suffering the same fate against Clay Guida this past January.
Just 23 years old, Perez has won eight straight fights, posting a 3-0 record inside the Octagon. “El Goyito” was supposed to return to action in April against Johnny Bedford but saw that booking scrapped due to injury. In Mizugaki, Perez faces a former WEC title challenger who recently posted consecutive victories for the first time since 2008, most recently taking a split decision from Bryan Caraway on March 3 at UFC on Fuel TV 8.
