UFC on Fuel TV 6 Bonuses: Cung Le, Thiago Silva, Takanori Gomi, Mac Danzig Pocket $40K

Four men walked away from UFC on Fuel TV 6 with post-fight bonuses, as Cung Le, Thiago Silva, Takanori Gomi and Mac Danzig were each awarded an extra $40,000 for their performances at Cotai Arena in Macau.

Le and Silva earned “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” honors for their respective wins over Rich Franklin and Stanislav Nedkov -- the only finishes on the nine-bout card -- while Gomi and Danzig were awarded “Fight of the Night” for their three-round lightweight affair.

Le’s headlining conflict with Franklin ended about as abruptly as one could imagine. With both men still gauging distance and trying to settle into the striking range, Le (Pictured, file photo) absorbed a low kick from the former UFC champion and countered with a swift right hook that Franklin never saw coming. The blow struck “Ace” cleanly as he began his counter-punching motion, knocking him off his pivot and sending him face-first to the canvas just 2:17 into the scheduled five-round contest.

Silva’s finish of Nedkov in the co-main event was much more grueling, with the Brazilian going toe-to-toe with the Bulgarian for two round rounds before scoring a double-leg takedown early in the third stanza. Silva easily passed to the mount and secured head-and-arm control before cinching an arm-triangle that forced Nedkov to admit defeat for the first time in his six-year pro career.

Earlier in the evening, Gomi and Danzig battled for three rounds, with both men executing effectively in the standup. While Gomi appeared to get the better of the exchanges in round one, the American rebounded in the second frame and threatened with an arm-in guillotine as the round expired. Though the final five minutes proved to be another competitive period, two of the three cage-side judges felt Gomi did enough to warrant the nod, putting “The Fireball Kid” on a two-fight winning streak for the first time since 2009.
