‘Ultimate Fighter’ Alumni Ring, Johnson Added to June UFC Cards

The UFC has announced that “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 11 competitor Nick Ring and “TUF 12” runner-up Michael Johnson will each return to the Octagon in June.

Ring (Pictured, courtesy Spike) will take part in a middleweight scrap with UFC newcomer James Head at UFC 131, which takes place June 11 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Meanwhile, lightweight Johnson will face World Extreme Cagefighting import Edward Faaloloto as part of UFC Live 4, slated for June 26 at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Both fights have been verbally agreed to, according to a Monday posting on UFC.com.

Ring, 32, was forced out of the “TUF 11” quarterfinals in 2010 due to a knee injury and made his UFC debut at February’s UFC 127, earning a controversial unanimous decision over former Deep champion Riki Fukuda. The Canadian’s record stands at 11-0, including five submission finishes and two technical knockouts.

Head enters the bout on the heels of his most significant career victory, a Feb. 25 unanimous decision against recent UFC exile Gerald Harris. The lone blemish on the Oklahoman’s 7-1 record came against another UFC vet, Jesse Forbes, in August 2009.

Johnson, 24, will look to rebound from his unanimous decision loss in the “TUF 12” final to Jonathan Brookins. Prior to the December defeat, the Missouri native had won four of his last five.

Faaloloto enters the UFC with a professional record of just 2-1. After a pair of wins under the X-1 banner in his native Hawaii, the Chris Leben protégé was stopped with second-round strikes by Anthony Njokuani at WEC 52 last November.
