‘Ultimate Fighter’ Winner Jesse Taylor Receives One-Year USADA Suspension for Positive Test

The United States Anti-Doping Agency on Friday suspended Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight Jesse Taylor following a positive test for a prohibited substance. Taylor, who won Season 25 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” accepted a one-year suspension, according to a USADA release.

Taylor was flagged for clomiphene during an out-of-competition urine test conducted on Aug. 22. Per the USADA, “clomiphene is a Specified Substance in the class of Hormone and Metabolic Modulators and is prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, which has adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.” The 34-year-old was scheduled to face Belal Muhammad at UFC Fight Night 121 on Nov. 21 before the positive test necessitated his removal.

A former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titleholder, Taylor last competed at “The Ultimate Fighter 25” Finale on July 7, when he completed his run through a 16-man welterweight tournament with a second-round rear-naked choke submission on Dhiego Lima. The Poway, California, native has secured more than half (17) of his 31 professional victories by submission. Taylor will be eligible to return on Sept. 14.
