English welterweight Michael Page will try to add a ninth win to his unblemished record when he takes on “American Bad Boy” Charlie Ontiveros at Bellator 144.
Bellator MMA on Monday announced Ontiveros as the opponent for Page, who was added to the card in early September. Bellator 144 takes place Oct. 23 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and features a bantamweight title rematch between Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas in the main event.
Page has racked up eight wins -- including five knockouts and two submissions -- since transferring from kickboxing to MMA three years ago. The 28-year-old karate stylist went the distance for the first time in his October meeting with Nah-Shon Burrell, but “MVP” returned to his violent ways in July by knocking out Rudy Bears in 65 seconds.
Ontiveros, 24, has fought all nine of his professional bouts under the banner of Legacy Fighting Championship his home state of Texas. He holds a record of 6-3, with all three losses coming by way of technical knockout. Ontiveros is just five weeks removed from a three-round split decision win over Bilal Williams at Legacy 44.
