Another talent from the United Kingdom has landed on the UFC Fight Night 113 card.
The Ulimate Fighting Championship announced Monday that undefeated Welsh bantamweight Brett Johns will return to the cage when the promotion heads back to Scotland, taking on Canadian veteran Mitch Gagnon. UFC Fight Night 113 takes place on July 16 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. It's the promotion's second card in Scotland, following the UFC Fight Night card topped by Michael Bisping and Thales Leites in July 2015 at the same venue.
The main card of UFC Fight Night 113 is scheduled to air on Fox Sports 1 with the undercard preliminaries on UFC Fight Pass, though an official main event and official bout order have not been named yet.
Johns, who just turned 25 years old in February, made his UFC debut last November, taking a solid unanimous decision over previously undefeated South Korean Kwan Ho Kwak, moving his pro mark to 13-0. “The Pikey” was scheduled to meet British bantamweight Ian Entwistle at the UFC Fight Night 107 “Manuwa vs. Anderson” card this past March in London, England, but the bout was nixed after Entwistle missed weight and was hospitalized, leading him to be removed from the contest as a medical precaution (online betting).
The 32-year-old Gagnon has lost two straight in the Octagon. After a surprisingly competitive effort against former UFC champion Renan Barao before succumbing to a third-round rear-naked choke in December 2014, Gagnon spent two years on the shelf due to injury. “The Machine” returned at UFC 206 in Toronto, Ontario this past December, but after a dominant first round, was worn out and overcome by upstart Matthew Lopez, who won a unanimous decision.
