Undefeated British Heavyweight Inks UFC Deal
Undefeated heavyweight prospect Philip De
Fries has signed with the
UFC.
The 25-year-old Brit announced the news on Friday via Facebook. Though De Fries did not mention a date for his Octagon debut, he has been rumored to participate at UFC 138, which goes down Nov. 5 at LG Arena in Birmingham, England. Headlined by a middleweight scrap between Mark Munoz and Chris Leben, the event will air via same-day tape delay on Spike TV in the United States.
Perfect through his first seven fights as a professional, De Fries has finished each of his career victims by submission. The two-year professional has made an especially effective tool of the rear-naked choke, utilizing the maneuver to stop five of his fallen foes. Fighting exclusively in England, De Fries has finished six opponents in the first round; only his most recent conquest over Stav Economou on July 2 reached the second frame.
