Undefeated Mackenzie Dern to Make Octagon Debut at UFC 222 Against Ashley Yoder

Mackenzie Dern is bound for the Ultimate Fighting Championship already.

The undefeated 24-year-old grappling ace will reportedly make her Octagon debut at UFC 222, facing Ashley Yoder in a strawweight contest. MMA Fighting was first to confirm the bout on Monday.

UFC 222 is scheduled to take place on March 3 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Dern, the daughter of accomplished Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor “Megaton” Wellington Dias, is a two-time BJJ world champion as a black belt, in addition to having won the 132-pound category at the 2015 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championship. Since making her MMA debut in July 2016, Dern has racked up a 5-0 record in the cage. Most recently, Dern armbarred Kaline Medeiros in the third round at Invicta Fighting Championships 26 on Dec. 8.

Yoder, 30, competed on the 23rd season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” defeating Jodie Esquibel before being eliminated from the show by Kate Jackson. “The Spider Monkey” has gone 0-2 in her first two official UFC bouts, dropping unanimous decisions to Justine Kish and Angela Hill.
