Up in Smoke: Pearson Tests Positive for Marijuana
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has found that featherweight
Joe Pearson (Pictures) (17-8-1) tested positive for
marijuana following his Jan. 20th WEC title fight versus Urijah Faber (Pictures), MMAweekly reported Monday.
Pearson joins Kit Cope (Pictures), who was found to have an anabolic steroid in his system, as the second fighter on the Zuffa-promoted WEC card to test positive for a banned substance.
Fighting out of Miletich Martial Arts in Bettendorf, Iowa, Pearson fell to Faber in just 2:31 of the first round. In November, the 145-pound fighter earned the biggest win of his career, finishing Yoshiro Maeda (Pictures) with a guillotine choke in less than a minute.
