Update: Garcia-Gamburyan Likely for Nov. WEC

Leonard Garcia will likely return to action against “The Ultimate Fighter” finalist Manny Gamburyan at a WEC event being planned for Nov. 18 in Las Vegas, according to a source close to the promotion. The fight has been verbally agreed to by both camps and should be official shortly.

Sherdog.com initially reported that the fight was being planned for December. The source later clarified the November date.

Garcia (13-4) rebounded from a tough knockout loss to featherweight champion Mike Thomas Brown in March of this year by defeating Jameel Massouh by split decision last month. The 30-year-old Texan, who trains out of Greg Jackson’s Albuquerque gym, will need a good performance to get back into the title picture after his last two showings.

Gamburyan, 28, is also looking for a rebound of sorts. After suffering an injury in his TUF final matchup with Nate Diaz, the judoka split his next four fights, dropping the last two before moving down in weight to enter the WEC featherweight division.

A successful showing in his first WEC featherweight bout -- a decision over John Franchi in June -- has netted Gamburyan (9-4) a chance to ply his skills against a former title contender.

This article was updated at 2:56 p.m. EST to change the date of the bout from December to November.
