Update: John Dodson vs. Pedro Munhoz Canceled After Munhoz Comes in 5 Pounds Over

The UFC’s pre-fight drama in Belem, Brazil, isn’t over quite yet.

At Friday morning’s early weigh-in for UFC Fight Night 125, co-headliner Pedro Munhoz checked in at 140 pounds for his slated bantamweight bout with John Dodson. Although Munhoz was cleared to still fight at a 140-pound catchweight by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA), it was not clear if Dodson would ultimately accept the fight.

“The Magician” and his team have declined to meet Munhoz at a catchweight, nixing the contest, at least for UFC Fight Night 125. UFC officials confirmed its cancelation to Sherdog.com late Friday afternoon.

The women’s flyweight bout between Priscila Cachoeira and Valentina Shevechenko will be promoted to the co-feature, while a bantamweight bout between Douglas Silva de Andrade and Marlon Vera has been promoted to the main card.

Dodson was guaranteed 20 percent of Munhoz’s contracted show money when the Brazilian made weight. If the Jackson-Wink MMA product had fought Munhoz and won, he would’ve received 20 percent of Munhoz’s total purse.

Munhoz was one of many who had weight issues ahead of UFC Fight Night 125. Undefeated middleweight main eventer Eryk Anders initially clocked in at 187.9 pounds for his headliner against Lyoto Machida before eventually making 186 pounds. Elsewhere, Michel Prazeres weighed in at 161 for his lightweight bout with Desmond Green, the third time he’s missed weight in his last four bouts.
