A light heavyweight bout between Vladimir Matyushenko and Steve Cantwell has been pulled from Saturday’s UFC 108 roster, confirmed Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer via email on Wednesday.

"[Cantwell] might never fight again," said White, who would not elaborate.
White stated later that Matyushenko could serve as a replacement if any other fighter on the roster dropped out before Saturday. Matyushenko's rep, Nima Safapour, said his fighter is currently in Las Vegas on standby and is still cutting weight.
Kizer told Sherdog.com Wednesday that Cantwell had not yet submitted his completed medical paperwork and that the promotion notified him Tuesday that the bout would likely be pulled. Kizer said that the paperwork he had received for Cantwell appeared fine and that UFC did not give a reason for the withdrawal.
"We certainly feel that Steve will be able to continue his MMA career," wrote a spokesperson from Knock Out Representation, which manages Cantwell, via email. "We are confident and look forward to clearing this matter with the commission. They take their job very serious and we respect how they look out for the fighters best interest...however we anticipate getting in the cage and entertaining the fans in the near future."
