Valentijn Overeem Injury Results in Travis Wiuff-Mike Kyle Headliner at CFA 11
Valentijn Overeem has suffered an injury and will be unable to compete against Mike Kyle as expected at CFA 11.
Kyle will instead take on Travis Wiuff in the May 24 headliner, which takes place at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla. The evening’s main draw airs live on AXS TV and will also feature transgender fighter Fallon Fox squaring off with Allanna Jones in the semifinals of the Championship Fighting Alliance women’s featherweight tournament.

Since that meeting, Kyle has gone 5-2 with one no-contest, though just one of those victories came inside the Strikeforce cage. The 33-year-old competed just once last year, suffering a submission defeat to Rafael Cavalcante that was then changed to a no-contest after “Feijao” failed his post-fight drug test. “Mak” returned to competition on Jan. 12, submitting to a Gegard Mousasi rear-naked choke to end his Strikeforce career.
Wiuff, meanwhile, fought his way to the finals of Bellator’s 2012 Summer Series light heavyweight tournament before falling to future champion Attila Vegh in a 25-second knockout. Two more losses would follow for “Diesel,” who dropped a split decision to Maro Perak before returning to the Bellator cage as a heavyweight on March 21, when he was knocked out in just 18 seconds by Ryan Martinez.
