Video: Daniel Cormier Discusses Breaking ‘Conan Curse,’ Brock Lesnar’s Attire at UFC 226

With his victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226, Daniel Cormier was able to break the notorious “Conan Curse.”

A few weeks before his showdown with Miocic, Cormier appeared on “Conan” with host Conan O’Brien on TBS to promote the fight. “DC” was well aware of the bad luck of those appearing on the show, as UFC fighters such as Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey, Nate Diaz, Michael Bisping and Miesha Tate have all lost after appearing on the show.

Cormier discussed breaking that streak during an appearance on “Conan” Tuesday night.

“When I got to the back, UFC PR came over and they said, ‘Great job. Things are gonna get crazy,’” Cormier said. “I said, ‘Nothing’s crazier than the fact I won this fight — even though I went to Conan.’”

The UFC two-division champ also discussed his post-fight confrontation with Brock Lesnar in the Octagon. While virtually everyone remembers Lesnar shoving Cormier across the cage, the WWE star’s attire was of particular interest to Cormier.

Brock Lesnar just may be the strongest human being walking the face of God’s earth. He’s gonna be the next guy. Brock Lesnar right now is the WWE heavyweight champion, a former UFC champion, a guy I’ve known for a long time. As I saw him, through the cage as I was getting ready to fight….I usually go out second, I went out first because I was the challenger. I was standing there trying not to look at Brock and I was like, ‘What’s he doing here?’ When I saw him come in, he came in the cage and he was wearing this suit, and for some reason he had the bottom of his suit pants tucked into cowboy boots. It was the weirdest visual,” Cormier said.

“I don’t know what Brock was doing. So at 6-5, 300 pounds he’s got his pants tucked into his boots and he comes over and throws me across the Octagon. I told him, ‘Brock, you get to push me now, but when we fight you get to go to sleep in the Octagon.’ I’m gonna put him to sleep.”

If and when Cormier is booked to face Lesnar, he will not hesitate to appear on “Conan” ahead of the fight.

“Let me tell you something: There is never going to be a time where I don’t beg to come on this show before I fight because now this is the good luck seat,” he said.
