World Series of Fighting on Tuesday announced a pair of new roster additions, as heavyweight Scott Barrett and welterweight Valdir Araujo have signed multi-fight deals with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
The organization will hold its next event on Dec. 7, when WSOF 7 goes down at PNE Agrodome in Vancouver, British Columbia. The WSOF’s Canadian debut airs live on NBC Sports Network in the United States and is headlined by a light heavyweight clash pitting UFC vet Anthony Johnson against ex-Strikeforce competitor Mike Kyle.
Barrett, 29, competed twice for Bellator in 2010, posting a 1-1 record before exiting the promotion. Now training with the Blackzilians camp in Florida, “The Bear” has won three of his last four fights, most recently taking a split decision from Strikeforce alum Gabriel Salinas-Jones under the Xtreme Fighting Championships banner.
Araujo captured the vacant Championship Fighting Alliance welterweight title in his last outing, submitting Romario Manoel da Silva with a second-round guillotine choke last month at CFA 12. The 28-year-old has lost just once in his last seven bouts and rides a three-fight winning streak into his to-be-announced WSOF debut.
