UFC veteran Victor Valimaki subdued Lew Polley by unanimous decision to capture The Fight Club light heavyweight championship at TFC 8 “Salvation” on Friday at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

On a significant roll since he was struck into submission by Roger Hollett at a Maximum Fighting Championship event two years ago, Valimaki has rattled off six consecutive victories, five of them finishes. His list of victims during this latest run includes “The Ultimate Fighter” alum Noah Inhofer, Pride Fighting Championships castoff Rodney Glunder and now Polley -- an American Top Team representative who entered the match off a decision win against Vernon White.

Valimaki, a 27-year-old Canadian, made two failed appearances inside the UFC, as he lost a split decision to David Heath and succumbed to strikes against Alessio Sakara.

Meanwhile, MFC veteran Ryan Ford barely broke a sweat in dispatching Markhaile Wedderburn in the TFC 8 headliner. The end came 1:24 into round one when Ford cinched a rear-naked choke for the finish.

Moraes Stays Unbeaten at Jungle Fight 14

Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Sergio Moraes kept his perfect record intact with a first-round submission victory against Golden Glory’s Tommy Depret at Jungle Fight 14 on Saturday at the Pacaembu Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Moraes latched rear-naked choke for the finish 3:55 into the first round. He has notched four of his five career wins by submission, all by choke. The unbeaten Brazilian has already dabbled in the American MMA market, having defeated Josh Martin in a Bellator Fighting Championships event in June.

International Fight League veteran Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira was among the winners at Jungle Fight 14, as well, as he coaxed a tapout from Vagner Curio in 16 seconds. The 30-year-old has delivered three submission wins in a row in less than half a minute.

Shlemenko Streak Reaches Nine

Alexander Shlemenko, one of Europe’s top middleweights, won his ninth straight bout on Sunday, as he defeated Patrick Kincl by unanimous decision in the Hell Cage 4 main event at Slavia Prague Sports Hall in Prague, Czech Republic.

An EliteXC veteran, Shlemenko has not tasted defeat since he lost for a second time to Jose “Pele” Landi-Jons at a World Free Fight Challenge show three years ago. The 25-year-old Russian has delivered 15 of his 24 career wins by knockout or technical knockout and has been finished only by Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

Other winners at Hell Cage 4 included the unbeaten Ivan Buchinger, KSW veteran Atila Vegh and Lithuanian journeyman Egidijus Valavicius.

Acacio Finishes Irie at FCF 3

Pride Fighting Championships veteran Daniel Acacio won for the sixth time in eight fights when he stopped Pedro Irie on second-round strikes at First Class Fight 3 on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Acacio -- who turns 32 in December and holds notable wins against 2006 Pride welterweight grand prix winner Kazuo Misaki and former IFL stalwart Delson Heleno -- has posted back-to-back wins since his 70-second knockout loss to Mahmed Khalidov at KSW 11 in May.

Unbeaten Ring of Combat veteran Charles Oliveira was also victorious at FCF 3, as he submitted Alexandre Bezerra with a second-round anaconda choke. Oliveira has finished all nine of his opponents as a professional, five of them by submission, four others by KO or technical knockout.
