Bellator MMA on Wednesday rounded out the main-card lineup for Bellator 159 with the addition of three new bouts.
The event -- which takes place July 22 at Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas --will now feature a featherweight fight between former title contender Daniel Weichel and the surging Emmanuel Sanchez. Also slated for the Spike TV broadcast is an all-Brazilian light heavyweight tilt pitting Luiz Philipe Lins against Guilherme Viana, plus a women’s flyweight feature between promotional newcomers Bruna Ellen and Jessica Middleton.
The new additions join a main card topped by a high-stakes bantamweight bout featuring unbeaten prospect Darrion Caldwell against seasoned Guamanian Joe Taimanglo. Set to co-headline the card is a lightweight tilt between local Kansas favorite David Rickels and UFC veteran Melvin Guillard.
One year after being knocked out by Patricio Freire in a featherweight title fight, Weichel is looking to climb back into contention and build upon his December decision win over Georgi Karakhanyan. Roufusport product Sanchez has won three straight inside the Bellator cage, with all three victories coming by way of split decision.
Lins, also known as “Philipe Monstro,” will return from a two-year hiatus brought on by a knee injury suffered in a July 2014 bout with Kelly Anundson. His countryman, Viana, is 1-1 so far in his pair of Bellator appearances, with a loss to Francis Carmont and a win over Houston Alexander.
