Vitor Belfort, Weidman’s opponent for the now-postponed matchup, was the first to bring news of the injury to light. He did so Monday in a posting on his official Facebook page, also adding that the fight would likely be rescheduled for February of 2015.

UFC President Dana White then confirmed the report to MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani, and also released plans that Johny Hendricks would return to rematch Robbie Lawler for the Dec. 6 event’s new main event. Hendricks’ UFC 170-pound title will be on the line.

The pair squared off initially at UFC 171 on March 14, with Hendricks taking a closely-contested unanimous decision. The champion required surgery to repair a torn right biceps following the clash, from which he is still recovering.
