Nicolas Dalby has been released by the UFC after posting a 1-2-1 mark over four Octagon appearances.
The welterweight revealed the news on Wednesday via Instagram.
“I’ve received information that I’ve been cut from the UFC,” he wrote. “Is it a bitter pill to swallow? Sure is. Fighting in the UFC is about as big as it gets in MMA…..I’ll be back. Stronger and more dangerous than ever.”
Dalby entered the Las Vegas-based promotion with a 13-0 record and as the 170-pound champion of Cage Warriors Fighting Championship. After taking a split decision against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in his debut and battling Darren Till to a draw in his first two Octagon appearances, “Sharpshooter” dropped back-to-back decisions against Zak Cummings and Peter Sobotta. Dalby’s most recent appearance was the loss to Sobotta at UFC Fight Night 93 on Sept. 3.
I received information that I've been cut from the UFC . Is it a bitter pill to swallow? Sure is. Fighting in the UFC is about as big as it gets in MMA. However I am immensely humbled by the love and support my fans, friends, family and girlfriend have showed me! And now it's up to me to show the world that nobody puts Dalby in the corner . I'm a lover and a fighter. So now I'll give my girlfriend a big kiss and go to the gym and train harder than I ever did before. I'll be back. Stronger and more dangerous than ever! --- Yours truly.
