Promotion officials announced the pairing on Wednesday. UFC 221 takes place at Perth Arena in Perth Australia on Feb. 10 and is headlined by a middleweight title bout between Robert Whittaker and Luke Rockhold.
A native of New South Wales, Australia, Volkanovski has kicked off his promotional tenure with three consecutive triumphs. The 29-year-old Freestyle Fighting Gym representative owns a 16-1 career mark that includes nine wins via KO/TKO and three via submission.
Kennedy is also 3-0 in the Octagon, including a three-round verdict over Kyle Bochniak in his most recent outing at UFC on Fox 25. The 25-year-old Canadian is 11-0 as a professional overall, with five victories coming inside the distance.
