Dong Hyun Kim will square off against Josh Burkman in a welterweight clash at UFC 187.
Promotion officials recently revealed the pairing. UFC 187 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 23 and features a pair of title bouts, as Jon Jones defends his light heavyweight strap against Anthony Johnson and Chris Weidman puts his middleweight belt on the line against Vitor Belfort.
The 33-year-old Kim returns to the Octagon for the first time since August, when he suffered a first-round technical knockout loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC Fight Night “Bisping vs. Le.” That setback halted a four-bout win streak for “Stun Gun,” who is 10-3 in his Octagon tenure and owns victories over the likes of Matt Brown, T.J. Grant, Nate Diaz and Erick Silva.
After more than a six-year hiatus, Burkman returned to the Las Vegas-based promotion on Jan. 3, dropping a unanimous verdict to Hector Lombard at UFC 182. A five-time World Series of Fighting veteran, Burkman has won nine of his last 12 bouts since initially parting ways with the UFC in 2008.
