Promotion officials announced the bout on Wednesday. The card takes place at Royal Arena and marks the UFC’s inaugural visit to Denmark. Nelson vs. Alves is the first matchup announced for UFC Copenhagen, which is expected to air on ESPN+.
Nelson last appeared at UFC London on March 16, when he suffered a split-decision setback to Leon Edwards. The 30-year-old Iceland native is 8-4 over the course of his promotional tenure and 17-4 as a professional overall. He has finished 12 of his career triumphs by way of submission.
Alves, meanwhile, has lost three of his last four UFC bouts. Most recently, the Brazilian known as “Pitbull” dropped a three-round verdict to Laureano Starpoli at UFC 237 on May 11. The former welterweight title challenger owns a 15-10 career mark in the UFC dating back to his debut in 2005.
