It seems some trouble is brewing in St. Louis ahead of Friday’s Bellator 145 event.

Bellator MMA lightweight champion Will Brooks on Wednesday took to Twitter to describe an alleged attack on himself by fellow Bellator fighters Patricio Freire and Patricky Freire, also known as the “Pitbull Brothers.”

Over several tweets, Brooks claimed that he was on the phone with his mother when he was “sucker punched” by the Freires, whose entourage held Brooks back while he was struck. Brooks also posted a picture of a blood-stained shirt.

The attack allegedly took place Wednesday morning at the fighters’ hotel. Brooks stated that he has video evidence to corroborate his claims and he will release it “after authorities are able to check” the footage.

Shortly after the allegations were posted, Patricio got on his own Twitter account to refute Brooks’ version of events.

“Will Brooks is a liar. He hit Patricky first and came at me,” wrote Freire. “I went after him too and my first punch landed. We were separated.”

Patricio Freire is scheduled to defend his 145-pound title against rival Daniel Straus in the main event of Bellator 145, which takes place at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Brooks features in the evening’s co-main event, risking his 155-pound belt against Poland’s Marcin Held.

Update, 11:52 a.m. PT: A representative from the Freires’ management group tells Sherdog.com that the fighters have no comment aside from what has been posted on Twitter.
