The buzz coming out of the rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana wasn’t the boxing match that had just occurred, it was one of two other things: Mayweather fighting Manny Pacquiao, or “Money” retiring when his contract with Showtime Boxing is complete.

Well it seems as if one of those things could become irrelevant, likely increasing the chances of the other in the process.

According to an interview on Thursday with FightHype.com, Mayweather said that he is undecided about how much longer he will continue to fight. Depending on the day, the 37-year-old wavers back and forth on the decision.

Even though I only have two fights left, you know, some days I think about signing a new contract and extending,” Mayweather said. “I'm thinking about it. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm thinking about it.”

While some may groan at the idea of the undisputed king of selling pay-per-views hanging around the sport of boxing any longer than was originally thought, his presence does bring an interest that no one has shown the ability to duplicate.

With fights against Amir Khan, Pacquiao, and whomever else Mayweather deems worthy on the horizon, boxing fans will just have to wait and see what comes of this situation.
