Undefeated welterweight
Tyron Woodley will meet
Rudy Bears in a headlining bout at Strikeforce Challengers 5 on Nov. 20 in Kansas City, Kan., the promotion announced Thursday.
A two-time All-American at the University of Missouri, Woodley submitted UFC veteran
Zach Light with a second-round armbar at Strikeforce Challengers 3 on Sept. 25 in Tulsa, Okla.
In his promotional debut, Woodley submitted
Sal Woods in the second round of their undercard bout on June 6 at Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields” in St. Louis.
Bears sports a six-fight win streak. He defeated
Brendan Seguin with a second-round technical knockout at M-1 “Breakthrough” on Aug. 28 in Kansas City, Kan.
Black House rep Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante will also meet
Aaron Rosa in a light heavyweight bout. Cavalcante was a rising prospect until
Mike Kyle soundly defeated him at Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields” on June 6. The bout marked the Brazilian’s second defeat in nine contests.
Similarly, Rosa has only been stopped twice in 14 bouts and submitted
Anthony Ruiz at Strikeforce Challengers 1 on May 15 in Fresno, Calif.
Also on the card,
Kim Couture and
Kerry Vera will meet in a 135-pound women’s bout, while undefeated Canadian striker
Sarah Kaufman will take on
Takayo Hashi at 135 pounds as well.
Kaufman has won twice inside the Strikeforce cage, earning unanimous decisions over
Miesha Tate and
Shayna Baszler while demonstrating her formidable standup skills. Hashi has just one loss in 13 career fights, as she was last submitted with a first-round armbar by
Hitomi Akano in Smackgirl in August 2005.
