For the second time in less than two months, a scheduled middleweight clash between Yoel Romero and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has been canceled.
Romero and Souza were originally supposed to square off at UFC 184 on Feb. 28, but “Jacare” had to withdraw from the contest due to pneumonia.
Both Souza and Romero rank among the top contenders in the division. Souza is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak, including a submission of Gegard Mousasi in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night this past September. Romero, who has won five straight fights, was last seen defeating Tim Kennedy via third-round TKO at UFC 178.
UFC on Fox 15 takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and is headlined by a pivotal middleweight encounter between Luke Rockhold and Lyoto Machida.
