Younger Lima Brother Meets Martin at MFC 31

Canadian promotion Maximum Fighting Championship today announced the final addition to its upcoming Oct. 7 event, as undefeated prospect Dhiego Lima (pictures) locks horns with UFC veteran Terry Martin at MFC 31.

Headlined by a light heavyweight title tilt pitting Ryan Jimmo against Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, MFC 31 emanates from the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and airs live on HDNet.

Martin previously faced Lima's older brother, Douglas, at MFC 29 in April. The elder Lima made quick work of the veteran in his first welterweight title defense, knocking Martin out in just 1:14.

“I’m going to knock out Terry Martin, and I’m going to do it faster than my brother did,” said the younger Lima in the official release.

Lima has yet to taste defeat through six pro bouts, finishing all six of his career victims by either knockout or submission. The 21-year-old has competed thrice for the MFC so far, notching wins over Bill Fraser, Josh Taveirne and most recently Jamie Toney at MFC 30.

An eight-year MMA veteran, Martin has lost four of his last six fights. Formerly competing at light heavyweight and middleweight, the 30-year-old reinvented himself at 170 pounds in 2009. Though he lost his welterweight debut, Martin notched back-to-back wins in 2010 before falling to the elder Lima this past April.
