Yves Edwards, ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone Clash in Virginia at UFC on FX 3

Donald Cerrone and Yves Edwards will square off at UFC on FX 3.

The UFC announced the news during Tuesday night’s episode of “UFC Tonight” on Fuel TV. The event is expected to take place May 15 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., and will also feature a middleweight confrontation between Tom Lawlor and Jason MacDonald.

A former WEC lightweight title challenger, Cerrone had a six-fight winning streak snapped when he was out-struck by Nate Diaz at UFC 141. Prior to that Dec. 30 decision defeat, “Cowboy” had not lost in his UFC career, posting four Octagon victories in 2011. Cerrone, 28, holds 13 career wins by submission and has never been knocked out.

Edwards (Pictured), 35, began his UFC career in 2001, dropping a majority decision to Matt Serra at UFC 33. The 15-time Octagon veteran most recently rejoined the promotion in 2010 and owns a 3-2 record since returning to the UFC fold. Most recently, the “Thugjitsu Master” was outpointed by “Ultimate Fighter” Season 13 winner Tony Ferguson, falling by close decision to “El Cucuy” on Dec. 3.
