Mixed martial arts clothing company Affliction has released several details on its July 19 debut event at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., which will be headlined by
Fedor Emelianenko (Pictures) versus
Tim Sylvia (Pictures).
Joining the heavyweights will be several high-profile bouts, including
Matt Lindland (Pictures) versus
Fabio Negao (Pictures),
Josh Barnett (Pictures) versus
Pedro Rizzo (Pictures) and the official participation of former IFL standout
Ben Rothwell (Pictures).
Also confirmed to compete are
Mike Whitehead (Pictures) and Renato "Babalu" Sobral.
Affliction Clothing Vice President
Tom Atencio, who appeared on Friday's episode of HDNet's "Inside MMA" to promote July's card, did not announce that Sobral would face Whitehead. However, Whitehead's team Web site (http://www.xtremecouture.tv/) lists "Babalu" as his opponent on the bill.
Originally rumored to be held in Dallas, the clothing company's first effort, titled "Banned" -- perhaps a take on rival promotions forbidding its contracted talent from wearing Affliction gear at events -- will air live on pay-per-view in North America.
