Phil Baroni will return to the Octagon following a four-and-a-half-year absence at
UFC 106 “Lesnar vs. Carwin” on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, the promotion announced Wednesday.
“The New York Bad Ass,” who had his start as a middleweight at UFC 30 in February 2001, will face “The Ultimate Fighter 7” winner
Amir Sadollah in a welterweight contest.
Baroni lost a unanimous decision to
Joe Riggs at Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields” on June 6 in St. Louis before jumping promotions. Sadollah will look to move past a 29-second defeat against
Johny Hendricks at UFC 101 last August in Philadelphia.
In another welterweight bout,
Marcus Davis will meet American Top Team’s
Ben Saunders. A native of Maine, Davis returns to U.S. soil following a split decision loss to Brit
Dan Hardy at UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany, last June. Saunders suffered a second-round stoppage at the hands of
Mike Swick on the same card.
Lightweights
George Sotiropoulos and
Jason Dent will also meet on the event’s undercard. Both “Ultimate Fighter” graduates, Sotiropoulos and Dent currently sport four-fight win streaks as well.
UFC heavyweight champion
Brock Lesnar will make his second title defense against fellow NCAA champion
Shane Carwin in the main event, and
Tito Ortiz tackles
Mark Coleman in the first fight of his new multi-fight contract with the UFC.
