Mendes, Kaufman Dominate at PFC

LEMOORE, Calif. -- Chad Mendes defeated former PFC featherweight champion Art Arciniega by unanimous decision in the MMA main event of “Best of Both Worlds II” at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino.

Mendes dominated the fight from start to finish, as his wrestling and takedowns proved too much for his more experienced opponent. Arciniega spent the majority of the bout on his back eating punches and elbows, unable to launch any meaningful offense. All three judges scored the bout 30-27 in Mendes’ favor, improving the up-and-comer’s record to a perfect 3-0.

In the co-main event, Enoch Wilson earned a comeback submission victory over an impressive looking Shawn Bias. Bias dominated the seasoned veteran early on, controlling the pace of the fight both on the feet and on the mat.

Bias looked to be on his way to an upset victory when Wilson locked in a tap-inducing kneebar at 1:21 of round two.

In the opening bout of the evening’s MMA portion, Japan’s Kengo Ura had little trouble submitting Bakersfield California’s Doug Hunt via rear-naked choke at 2:44 of the first round.
