Round 1
Schulte unloads a huge haymaker that whizzes over the head of Rush. Rush keeps his striking a bit tighter than his wild opponent and scores with clean punches before grabbing a Thai plum and delivering some hard knees to the body. Schulte extricates himself and wings another pair of huge right hands, one that draws air and the other lands in a glancing fashion. Rush scores a quick double-leg takedown and works to pass his opponent’s guard. He gets free of his legs and pounces on his back, the rear naked-choke is in and Schulte has no choice but to tap out at 2:37 of the opening round.
Mansanas caught Kamaka.

Mansanas vs. Bryson
Kamaka
Round 1
Mansanas and Kamaka trade low kicks before Kamaka lands a nice combination of punches. Mansanas heeds his corner’s advice not to brawl and shoots for a takedown. Kamaka sprawls and eats a flurry of punches as Mansanas switches his attack up. Kamaka seems no worse for the wear and retaliates with a one-two of his own. Mansanas drops back down and hits a takedown. He transitions right to the back and locks up a rear naked-choke attempt but he can’t elicit the tap. He softens Kamaka up with some punches from behind before cinching another rear naked-choke, sans the hooks, and gets the fight-ending tapout at 2:27 of the first period.
Steven Saito vs. Toby Misech
Round 1
Misech scored a technical knockout.
Saito opens in an orthodox stance while Misech
takes a southpaw approach. Misech seems comfortable standing in the
pocket, pistoning jabs, looking to set up his left hand. Misech
misses with a jab but floors Saito with the straight left that
followed right behind. He pounced on his downed foe and battered
him with wild punches. Saito seemed to have his wits about him as
he defended by rolling from side-to-side before eventually getting
back to his feet. Misech took advantage of the fight returning to
the feet and punished Saito with knees to the body and head.
Referee Chris West intervened in what seemed like a premature
stoppage at 1:53 of the first frame. Saito did not seem wobbled at
all when West pulled Misech away from him and just stood there
seemingly bewildered.
Ilima Maiava vs. Tatsuya Mizuno
Round 1
Mizuno tapped Maiava.
Maiava, another Hawaiian southpaw, kicks the
scoring off with an inside low-kick and a straight left to the
face. Mizuno seems unfazed and grabs a body-lock and tries to
wrangle Maiava to the mat. He is unsuccessful and Maiava scores a
takedown of his own off the break. He can’t set up in Mizuno’s
guard and struggles to keep him on the mat. Mizuno gets back to his
feet but ends up on the receiving end of a number of hard punches
from his eager opponent. Maiava drops Mizuno with a flurry and
tries to end the bout with another salvo of punches to a fallen
Mizuno but misses the mark. Mizuno escapes back to his feet and the
two fighters square off in the middle of the cage. Maiava lands a
nice knee but gets overzealous in rushing Mizuno and is reversed
down to the mat.
Mizuno uses the balance of the round to improve his position but he doesn’t do much damage as he switches from guard to side control and nearly mount. Sherdog.com scores the first round 10-9 for Ilima Maiava.
Round 2
Maiava shoots a knee up the middle as the fighters engage early in round two but Mizuno is ready and pushes the off-balanced Hawaiian to the mat. From there he methodically works into position for a submission attempt. After flattening Maiava out, Mizuno snakes his arm under the head of his opponent, trapping his limb in place and squeezing until he forces the tapout at 1:47 of the second round.
Schermerhorn blasted Gambill.

Schermerhorn vs. Kaleo
Gambill
Round 1
The middleweights take the center of the cage and Gambill pumps his jab to start the bout. Schermerhorn floors his opponent with a left hook and Gambill quickly stands. Schermerhorn and his foe trade wildly and Gambill is knocked out cold by a left hook on the chin. Gambill is motionless, but eventually stands under his own power. The official time is 0:45 of round one.
Tasi Edwards vs. Patrick Cummins
Round 1
Cummins finished Edwards.
Edwards misses a head kick and Cummins calmly uses
footwork to dart in and out before landing a strong single-leg
takedown. The former Penn State wrestler controls from the top and
then stands over his opponent, kicking the legs until diving into
the full guard. Cummins stands again and lands a powerful lunging
right hand. Cummins tees off again and then passes to side control.
Edwards scrambles and eats a knee to the ribs for his effort.
Cummins hops on Edwards’ back and looks for a rear-naked choke.
Edwards escapes but finds himself on the bottom in Cummins’ mount.
Cummins blasts away with both hands to the face and Edwards is in
trouble. Cummins stands and then goes to half guard, where he lands
several hard rights to the forehead.
Cummins controls the head and lets go to land a left hand. Edwards again gives up his back and Cummins is riding him against the cage. Cummins locks on a head-and-arm choke and Edwards is defenseless. Edwards taps at 4:01 of the first.
Ryan Martinez vs. Cody Griffin
Round 1
The massive heavyweights are slow to engage. Martinez lands a low kick and begins to paw out an out-of-range jab. Martinez lands two more hard low kicks. Martinez bulrushes forward and unloads with his hands. Griffin covers up and gets out of danger no worse for the wear. Check that; Griffin is bleeding from a small cut above his right eye from a glancing blow. Martinez lands another low kick and misses a follow-up left. Martinez connects with a jab but throws nothing behind it. The heavyweights exchange wildly, but neither man connects clean with anything but air or glove. Griffin checks his first low kick with 15 seconds left in the round. Martinez scores with another low kick just before the bell. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 for Martinez.
Round 2
Martinez outworked Griffin.
Griffin keeps Martinez at bay with a kick to the
body. Martinez returns fire and inadvertently kicks the groin of
his opponent. Time is called by referee Chris West to allow Griffin
to walk it off. The action resumes and Griffin connects with an
outside low kick. Martinez is furious and throws two hard kicks of
his own, but both are blocked. Griffin sticks his chin out to taunt
the favorite Martinez. Referee West asks for action as the
heavyweights stare at each other in the center of the cage. The
pace has slowed to a crawl as the fighters feint and circle.
Martinez misses two jabs and has two low kicks checked by Griffin.
The underdog appears to be the looser and fresher fighter with two
minutes remaining in the second round.
Martinez connects with a jab and then lands a straight right to the body. Griffin misses a one-two and again referee West asks for action as the crowd gets restless. Griffin again starts to taunt his foe and backs him up against the cage. Sherdog.com sees the round 10-9 Griffin.
Round 3
Martinez blasts Griffin with a right kick to the body to start round three. Griffin slips and Martinez pounces but is unable to land leather. Martinez kicks the leg and Griffin switches briefly to an orthodox stance. Martinez has captured the momentum and has set the pace in the final round with an effective low kick game. Martinez checks a low kick and the crowd showers the cage with boos as the inactive fighters rest. Griffin puts his hands down and taunts his opponent to bring it on. Martinez counters a low kick with a right hand and knocks Griffin backwards. Griffin checks two low kicks with 30 seconds remaining. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 Martinez and the fight 29-28 Martinez.
Official scores: 30-27 (twice) and 29-28 for Martinez, the winner by unanimous decision.
Jake Heun vs. Richard Odoms
Round 1
Heun quickly throws Odoms to the mat with a judo toss and quickly achieves the mount. Heun then spins for an armbar that is deep. Odoms survives and escapes to the top position, where he briefly ends up on Heun’s back. Heun lands a knee to the body and then is tied up along the fencing. Heun executes a whizzer to throw transition and begins to punch the head with his right hand from the top in half guard. Heun takes Odom’s back, but cannot keep the dominant position. Odoms has his right arm pinned underneath his foe’s knee and eats an elbow to the rib cage. Heun spins below his opponent for a leg lock but ends up fighting off a heel hook attempt from Odoms. The round ends in a leg lock battle with neither man winning the war. 10-9 Heun.
Odoms outlasted Heun.
Round 2
Heun checks a low kick and lands a short right. Heun looks to drop levels for a takedown and Odoms stuffs it along the fence. Odoms drops two elbows down on the thigh and is taken down. Heun easily mounts Odoms with 3:50 left in the round. Heun is resting from the mount and looking for an opening. Heun postures up and scores a right hand before Odoms reverses the position and takes the back. Odoms locks on a face crank/rear-naked choke and it’s deep. One hook is deep and a gassed-out Heun taps out at 1:56 of round two.
Sara McMann vs. Hitomi Akano
Round 1
McMann lands a crisp right hand on the heels of two strong jabs. McMann easily takes Akano to the canvas and avoids a guillotine. McMann works from side control with lefts to the head. Right hands land to the body of Akano. The more experienced fighter gets to full guard and looks for an armbar as McMann defends. Akano’s guard is closed and she eats a hard right hand. McMann works the body with her left hand. Referee Yuji Shimada stands the fighters. Both fighters miss head kicks and McMann picks Akano up and slams her hard onto the canvas. Akano rolls and the slick McMann takes her back. mcMann, an Olympian wrester, is clearly no joke on the ground. McMann looks for an arm triangle from the top in half guard as the round closes. 10-9 McMann.
Round 2
McMann dominated Akano.
Akano tries to tie up with mcMann and again she’s
thrown hard to the floor. Akano shows an offensive guard with an
aggressive armbar attempt, but falls short. Again Akano goes high
with her hips, but this time she has something. Akano alternates
positions from armbar to triangle as McMann defends. McMann clears
danger and again Akano gets the same position and threatens with an
armbar. McMann plays the game and referee Shimada stands the
fighters. McMann rushes and beats Akano up with hooks from both
hands. McMann powers Akano to the floor and defends a kimura with
1:45 left in the period. McMann escapes and takes an accidental
thumb in the eye.
Shimada stands the fighters. McMann wastes no time in throwing her back to the floor effortlessly. Akano locks on a triangle and throws wild punches from both hands as time expires. Akano finished strong, but it was not enough to steal the round. 10-9 McMann.
Round 3
Akano misses a head kick and is tripped to the floor. McMann takes the top position and hits the body with her right hand. McMann mixes in her left hand as she continues to assault the body. Akano works the same half-triangle position she has from the bottom previously and she’s got McMann locked up good this time. Akano hits the head trying to get her opponent to move, but the stronger fighter pops her head free. McMann greets her with hard rights to the body and Shimada again stands them up. McMann lands a right hand and throws Akano on her head like she’s a ragdoll. The strength of McMann’s hips is to behold. McMann is cruising from the guard with body shots. Akano works to her feet and lands a right hand before being slammed yet again to the floor. 10-9 McMann (30-27 McMann).
Official score: 30-27’s across the board for McMann, winner by unanimous decision.
Kendall Grove vs. Ikuhisa Minowa
Round 1
Minowa lands a hard low kick to Grove’s lead leg. Minowa misses a sloppy right-hand lead and looks very uncomfortable on his feet against the taller Grove. Again Minowa lands to the left thigh of Grove. Minowa blocks a head kick and somersaults his way out of harm’s way, much to the delight of the crowd. Grove is cutting off the cage as Minowa circles. Grove stops several weak shots and then has to defend a deep single that the Japanese fighter cinches up. Grove works with his back against the cage and Minowa muscles his opponent to the ground. Grove elbows the head and attempts to wall walk, but Minowa remains on top. Grove looks briefly for an armbar and then a kimura. Minowa’s defense is true. 10-10.
Round 2
Grove cruised against Minowa.
Minowa scores with a hard right low kick and
avoids a flurry of kicks from Grove that all are blocked. Grove
lands a right hand and the pace slows as both fighters struggle to
find a comfortable range. Referee Yuji Shimada asks for action and
Minowa dives in for a single that is easily stuffed. Minowa ducks
under a right hand and switches from a single to a double. He then
drops down to his back in search of a heel hook, but Grove has
absolutely none of it. Grove is elbowing the head from the top in
half guard. Minowa is defending well as Grove elbows the body and
then attempts a brabo choke. Grove moves to the back and locks on a
body triangle. Grove works for a rear-naked choke while Minowa
battles the wrists to survive.
Grove is in total control but gives up the body triangle to heel the liver. Grove moves to the high mount and lands a right hand before returning to the back. 10-9 Grove.
Round 3
Minowa misses a single and then has more success on a seond attempt. The fighters scramble for position as Grove holds the leg of Grove, but the former TUF champion refuses to be taken down. Grove transitions to the back and gets in both hooks with 3:45 remaining. Grove locks on a head-and arm choke that Minowa escapes from. Grove is all over Minowa with punches from the mount and the Japanese fighters gives up his back to avoid punishment. Grove rides him from the back with a tight body triangle. Grove works for a face crank and then a rear-naked choke. Minowa continues to show excellent defense and is never in immediate danger. Grove lands two right hands and begins to get more offensive with his hands. Minowa is going to be difficult to submit and Grove is looking for other ways to finish. Grove hits the head and holds on with the body triangle as time expires. 10-9 Grove and 30-28 Grove for the unofficial Sherdog scorecard.
