Gracie Fighting Championships has announed the full card for its "Team Gracie vs Team Hammer House" event at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, March 3. Headlining is a heavyweight bout between Lancaster, Ohio's
Wes Sims (Pictures) and PRIDE veteran
Daniel Gracie.
Gracie last took to the ring December 2003, submitting
Wataru Sakata at PRIDE's "Shockwave 2005," while Wes "The Project" Sims is coming off two wins in Central Ohio's HHCF.
Representing Hammer House for this event, Team Quest's
Matt Lindland (Pictures), currently riding a five-fight win streak since a disappointing loss to
David Terrell (Pictures) at UFC 49, faces
Fabio Leopoldo (Pictures) in a middleweight showdown. A Team
Renzo Gracie (Pictures) black belt, Leopoldo sports a 2-0 professional record, including a win over PRIDE and SHOOTO veteran
Yuki Sasaki (Pictures).
Rounding out the "Gracie vs Hammer House" team match-ups:
Mike Pyle (Pictures) takes on
Fabricio Cames; Daniel Moraes squares off against Cleveland, Ohio's
Forrest Petz (Pictures);
Jon Koppenhaver (Pictures) faces Team Gracie's Michael O'Donnell; and Hammer House's Michael French takes to the ring against Fredson Pixao.
Along with the six team bouts, "Team Gracie vs Team Hammer House" showcases three super fights, including SHOOTO and Cage Rage veteran
Vitor Ribeiro (Pictures) versus UFC and PRIDE vet
Chris Brennan; Dan Bobish against Alexandar Ustinov; and Team
Jorge Gurgel (Pictures)'s Dustin Hazelet challenging Rhalan Gracie.
In non-televised dark matches, Pat Horner takes on
Phil Cardella; Amanda, Ohio's
Steve Conkel, a Columbus police officer, battles
Brian Peoples of Chillicothe, Ohio; and
Carter Williams (Pictures) faces
Gary Turner in a K-1 rules bout.
Also, boxing legend Smokin' Joe Frazier will be on hand to receive the Arnold Classic Lifetime Achievement Award from California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Gracie Fighting Championships will be televised nationally on iNDEMAND, and can be seen on cable and satellite (Direct TV, Dish Network and Echo Star) and in Canada on Star Choice and Viewers Choice. The event will be broadcast in Europe at a later date. The iNDEMAND broadcast begins at 9 p.m. EST.
